Overview
With more than 20 years of transactional experience, including six years leading a team of in-house lawyers at a multi-cloud application services and security company, Derek advises technology companies on licensing, intellectual property, and commercial contract matters.
Derek negotiates on behalf of both vendors and purchasers and is valued by his customers for his ability to provide clear, concise explanations of legal jargon in plain English. He combines his deep knowledge of technology and intellectual property with his extensive in-house experience to tailor his counsel to the business and legal needs of his customers.
Areas of practice. Derek advises across a broad spectrum of products, services, and issues, including channel, cloud computing, intellectual property, software and hardware licensing, outsourcing, e-commerce, SaaS, content licensing, data security, and privacy. Derek also represents public and private customers in equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance.
