Final Victory for City of Federal Way

On September 28, 2016, the Washington State Supreme Court issued its Order denying a Petition for Review in a case involving Summit client City of Federal Way. This is the final victory in a long and hard-fought battle led by Shannon Phillips defending claims brought by a former City employee, Robert Piel, and his wife. The Piels had filed multiple claims against the City following Mr. Piel’s discharge in 2008. Summit obtained favorable summary judgment rulings, a verdict for the employer in a jury trial, and then a decision affirming these rulings by the Washington Court of Appeals. We commend Shannon and her team for their diligent work and congratulate the City of Federal Way on this final favorable ruling.
